Debt Payoff Calculator is a small, independent tool that does one thing: it shows you the debt snowball and debt avalanche strategies side by side, using your real numbers, so you can see which one actually gets you to zero faster and cheaper.
Why this exists
Most payoff calculators pick a side — they'll walk you through the snowball, or the avalanche, but rarely both, and almost none of them handle a 0% introductory APR correctly. That promo period changes the math: a card that looks cheap today can jump to 25%+ interest the moment the promo ends, and whichever strategy you're using needs to account for that cliff. We built this because comparing both strategies honestly, with promos handled properly, seemed like something that should exist and be free.
How it works
Enter your debts — balances, rates, minimum payments — and however much extra you can put toward them each month. The calculator runs both the snowball (smallest balance first) and the avalanche (highest rate first) at the same time, and shows you the debt-free date, total interest, and total paid for each, plus which one wins and by how much.
Runs entirely in your browser
There's no server processing your numbers. Everything — the math, the chart, the schedule — runs on your device in JavaScript. Nothing you type is sent anywhere. See the Privacy page for the full detail.
No accounts, no data collection
You don't need to sign up, log in, or hand over an email address to see your results. We don't collect your financial information, and we don't want to.
Not financial advice
This is an educational tool, not a substitute for advice from a qualified financial professional. It shows you the arithmetic of two well-known strategies; it doesn't know your full financial picture.
